Aubade

Barking dogs cannot tame shadows
beneath a covered moon. Its geometry sits
on the lake waiting to swim

in ripples we create.
We shatter its veil of repose, now washing
away affectations that wear us.

I follow you, like fish
scaling aquarium walls.

I follow you, restless as dogs barking
at apparitions, dispersing
into daylight.
